Month-ahead available transmission capacity

The month-ahead available transmission capacity is the amount of capacity on the cross border connections available to the market in monthly capacity auctions, taking into account all relevant information available to the TSO at the time of the forecast calculation (e.g. the impact of summer and winter seasons on the capacity of lines, maintenance on the grid, availability of production units, etc.). The month-ahead available transmission capacity is calculated per direction (import and export) and capacity auction.

The month-ahead available transmission capacity is offered on explicit auction.

In early September, an agreement was reached on the harmonized (common) auction rules for trade in interconnection capacity (cross-border trade of electricity). As a result, electricity trade between the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, and France will become more efficient as existing differences between these countries are removed, and as a level playing field emerges for traders active on the cross-border electricity market.
As an effect of these changes, the system for the month- and yearly capacity auction will change and capacity no longer will be auctioned between TSO's but will be auctioned between Countries; The Netherlands and Germany, The Netherlands and Belgium.
This causes a structure change in the published data.

In the table displayed below you will find the auction information for the Country-Country principle, historical information on the TSO-TSO principle will be available here.
